About
According to the history, Jama Masjid was built by the people of the empire (rulers and other eminent persons) to perform the holy ritual of Namaz. Even the soldiers coming to visit Saharanpur used to perform Namaz in this Masjid. It is believed that people used to offer Namaz more than five times a day at this holy place in Saharanpur. The mosque is able to accommodate over thousand people inside its premises. There is a large open space in the middle of the mosque. Due to the use of marble for construction, the insides of the mosque is quite calm and cool. It has two tombs and five minars. The tomb in the middle is larger than the other one. The paintings on the inside of the tomb are similar to that of the Jama Masjid, Delhi. There are three entrances to the mosque. Many of the walls have inscriptions of famous quotes from the holy Quran. The place is very serene, majestic and peaceful.
